We pack a lot into this one day course in order to give you a solid platform that you can build on in the
future.

For this season courses will run each Saturday from 14 December 2024 to 08 March 2025.
This course is for people with no previous training in Avalanche Awareness. The one day programme is designed to give you a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, for you to build on in the future. Subjects covered include why avalanches occur, risk reduction, and simple rescue techniques including use of safety equipment. All courses are run at a max ratio of 1:6.
The course is run on the mountain, off-piste, using skis or snowboards to travel. You do not need to be a strong off-piste rider to attend, but you do need to be abe to get around. If you have the time we strongly recommend you also book the Avalanche Progression Course for the following day.

For Foundation Courses we will meet at 08:45 inside the Cafe Argentero at Grand Montets ski area. This is the large building 50m up the bottom piste. Courses usually finish around 16:00-16:30. A “Le Pass” lift ticket is fine for the day, and is cheaper than the MBU.

Professional Instruction throughout the day
Free use of top quality avalanche safety equipment. NB If you want to borrow equipment, please annotate this on your booking form under "remarks".

Lift Ticket. You will need a “Le Pass” lift ticket for the day ie not MBU.
Insurance
Food/Accommodation. We usually eat lunch at a cafe where there is a picnic area. Either bring your own food or money with you.

You must be a competent off-piste skier or snow boarder. You do not need to be an expert, but must be capable of 30-35 degree slopes in variable snow. If you are new to the off-piste, get in touch to discuss your ability level.
